Teaching everyone to shoot.

Where we can talk Appleseed stuff.

Teaching everyone to shoot.

We don't have many restrictions on the people who come to an Appleseed to learn to shoot. If they can legally handle a weapon we will teach them to shoot a rifle. On one end of the list we have 8/9 year old kids. We have loaner rifles for them as most rifles are too big for them to shoot. We need to make an assessment as to whether they have developed the concentration necessary to be safe.

The other end of the spectrum is inhabited with old men and women with hip replacements and bad knees. Sometimes we have a student who has lost the use of an arm or leg and we work out the best compromise we can to make things work.

In between we have Military who train free, women who train free and anyone under 21 who trains free. The rest pay $80.00 for a weekend of shooting and instruction.

We teach how to use a military sling and how to shoot prone, sitting, and standing. We teach the six steps of firing a shot, natural point of aim and steady hold factors for the various positions. We teach inches/minutes and clicks and how the target tells you when to adjust the sights.

We teach a lot more but this is what we cover by 10 AM on Saturday morning, plus some history.
