South Dakota Bison "Hunt"

South Dakota Bison "Hunt"

Postby Ruger204 on Thu Apr 03, 2008 4:03 am

A friend of mine went on a black-powder bison hunt in SD in January. It was a hunt that he paid for and was guaranteed an animal. He took his 12 year old grandson with him and got him outfitted as well. Needless to say, lots of $$$ were spent. When he got there, he was shown a pasture with several animals dotting the landscape. He was told to pick the one he wanted and shoot it. Ain't that a crock?

That's like a story I read on the other site before. The head honcho there went on a bison hunt, got out of the truck with his bow, and walked within 20 yards. That's not a hunt, that's a slaughter.

It's sad that here are people that would pay to do that. I'm going to hunt one,but it will be fair chase,or I won't go.

I've got a ranch picked, but the buffs are free ranging, there's a lot of acres,I forget how many. It's as close to a buff hunt as I can get. I'm still checking it out though.

My friend was not impressed with his hunt either.
